The design carries text from plate eight of the alchemical text Amphitheatrum Sapientiae Aeternae by Heinrich Khunrath (1560-1605). He was a German physician, alchemist, and occultist. Mostly known for his contributions to the field of alchemy and his writings on Hermetic philosophy. Khunrath was born in Leipzig, Germany, and studied medicine at the University of Basel. He later went on to practice as a physician in Dresden and Hamburg.

Amphitheatrum Sapientiae Aeternae ("Amphitheater of Eternal Wisdom") was his most renowned book. Published in 1609, several years after his death. This alchemical and mystical treatise is richly illustrated and delves into various aspects of Hermetic philosophy, spiritual transformation, and the search for divine wisdom. The book presents a symbolic journey toward the union of opposites and the attainment of spiritual enlightenment.

Khunrath's writings reflect the fusion of alchemical and mystical ideas prevalent during the Renaissance. He embraced the idea of the unity of all creation and sought to uncover the hidden knowledge and spiritual truths through the practice of alchemy. His work influenced later alchemists and esoteric thinkers, contributing to the development of Rosicrucianism and other esoteric traditions.
